Birchbox November

birchbox, beauty subscription, mail, shop style collective, fashion and lifestyle blogger,

I have heard or Birchbox before but I never had the chance to try it out. I tried many beauty subscription boxes before and honestly I got so busy that the goodies that I got was just forgotten and not used. I always end up giving it away. But the one thing that I love about subscription boxes, is the excitement I get when I open the box and discover something new! It's like christmas times two for me let me tell you! When Shopstyle Collective and Birchbox reached out and have me try their November box, I couldn't say no. Who would right?

Anyway, I got my box delivered a couple of days ago and I had to see what was in it pronto! First of all, if you have no idea what the heck I'm talking about, Birchbox is a beauty subscription box where you can get up to five beauty samples for only $10 a month ( I sound like a radio ad haha) When I received the box, I thought the pink outer box was the actual box but then to my surprise, inside was a cuter box that had all of my goodies! When I opened the box there was a card that had all the info for the items inside. This box was all about the "Finishing Touch". Brownie points for the packaging alone! Now on to the actual products.

Ardency Inn
Modster Smooth Eyeliner $20 Full Size
Even though this eyeliner wasn't full size, I don't mind because I don't use eyeliner often but when I tried it out, it did glide on smooth and it didn't rub off right away.

Balance Me
Tinted Wonder Eye Cream $38 Full Size
Love this eye cream y'all! Now I don't know if the tint actually matches my skin tone (I have brown skin) but it didn't look too bad and I like the fact that it's light not too heavy and pretty good coverage.

Number 4th
Jour d' Automne Smoothing Balm $30 Full Size
I'm not that into hair products really so I didn't bother trying this one. I'll just probably pass it on to the bestie. Sorry.

Benefit
They're Real Mascara $24 Full Size
Okay, now I've always used benefit mascaras so I loved that I got this! I love the formula, I love the brush and it doesn't clump!! WINNER!!!

Juliette Has A Gun $100-$135 Full Size
Not a Perfume
Obsessed with this fragrance! I might have to ask santa for this during the holiday!! I love the light scent. It's simple and not over powering.

That pretty much sums up my Birchbox experience! Have you tried subscribing to Birchbox before? What did you think? I think I might have to just get back into the beauty box subscription wagon!

Simply Earth Essential Oils

simply earth, essential oils, product review, the ptown girls, portland lifestyle blogger, pdx blogger

When I was pregnant with my second child, I was really into scents. I always loved candles but never tried essential oils before. A lot of my friends really liked it so when I was gifted a box from Simply Earth, I couldn't refuse!
In the box that I received, there were five essential oils, a recipe book, a mason jar with ribbons, and two bottles. All you need to get started! The box that was sent to me is for the holidays so my daughter and I were really excited to try the recipes. It made our whole apartment smell like christmas! The oils were 100% pure and you only need a little but it goes a long way. The recipe booklet tells you exactly how much to put on  and there were some clever ideas that were in there as well. The box cost $39 a month which is actually a good deal in comparison to buying individual bottle of oils from the store that could totally add up! It's fun that they have a theme every month! It could be cleaning, beauty and bath recipes, and many more creations!

simply earth, essential oils, product review, the ptown girls, portland lifestyle blogger, pdx blogger

Not only is Simply Earth a family owned business,  they also love to give back to the community. 13% of their profit goes to organizations that are fighting to end human trafficking. I'm actually impressed with the product quality. The only cons is that packaging could have some improvement. When I received the box, a few of the oils leaked a little.  Something like this would be great as a present especially that the holidays are upon us! Have you tried Simply Earth essential oils yet? What are your thoughts? Share them in the comment below!!

There's STILL time, Treat Yourself to FEAST!

feast pdx, feast portland, food festival, lifestyle blogger, pdx foodie, portland blogger, portland event,

Unless you're living under a rock like me a year ago, you would know by now that FEAST Portland is just around the corner! I went to feast last year for the first time, and I was in food heaven. Literally. There were so many events, learned so much, and met amazing people. Not to mention, that they raised over $230,000 to help end childhood hunger. How fab right? This year, I'm looking forward to going to Brunch Village. Who doesn't love brunch? I'm also excited to see my fellow bloggers and just to kick it. There are still events open so you should really take a gander and purchase your tickets like yesterday. I promise, you will have the time of your life. Don't forget to follow my Instagram and Snapchat for more on this amazing weekend on September 15th-18th.

I can't wait...FEAST is Coming and I'm going to be there!!

feast pdx, feast portland, food festival, lifestyle blogger, pdx foodie, portland blogger, portland event,

When I went to FEAST last year, I had no idea what to expect. It was my first time and to be honest, I had no idea what it's about. Little did I know, it was going to be the best weekend ever because, one I love food, and two I got to meet a lot of local bloggers who share the same love as me. This year, I'm going to attend for the second time and I can't wait! They always seem to have new events every year. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, let me brief you on what FEAST is all about. It's only the biggest food and wine event in Oregon. And not only that, they have partnered with Hunger Free Oregon to help raise awareness to expand breakfast participation in Oregon schools. Over the last four years, Feast has raised over $230,000 to help end childhood hunger. Will I see you at feast portland this year? Don't worry, I'll be documenting great food the weekend of September 15th-18th on my social platforms. Monday Rant: 34 Weeks and My Birth Prep

pregnancy, third trimester, expecting mom, portland fashion blogger, pdx blogger,
photos by: Nikki De Leon

In about a month, I'll be meeting my little one. I've been doing a lot of nesting these days hence I've been m.i.a in the blogosphere. I've been on errand mode trying to get my birth figured out and since school is out for the summer with my fifth grader, trying to figure out camp situations.
Even though this is my second time around, I still feel anxiety and a little nervous about birthing. One, I'm 11 years older (my body definitely changed) and you never know what to expect. But I guess being at home delivering will be more comfortable for me. I had my first one at home, so this one is also going to be the same. I know you can't predict what's about to happen but here are some of the things that I've been doing to help myself prep for the birth.

Have a Birth Plan
This helped me out a lot with my first birth. Everyone that knows me, can tell you that I'm a super spontaneous person, but with this one, I want to make sure I have a plan. It doesn't need to be very detailed but just know who you want there and what each person's role are. I have some friends coming and they know that when they get a call, they have got to get their butts to my house. I find that this has been a great help especially with an 11 year old (someone has to watch her).

Birth Kit
I didn't know these things existed until the midwife told me about them. Personally, I think they are super helpful because all the things that you might need for a home birth is in a box. I got my birth kit from a local place in Portland but you can also find them online. Birth Kits include disposable sheets (it can get dirty), clamp for the cord, gauze, disposable underwear, and pads.

Clean
This is super important and one of the hardest things for me. Even though my partner has been super helpful with cleaning, there still little things here and there you want to accomplish as far as cleaning. Making sure the tub is clean (I want to be in the water), the floor swept, and getting the baby's clothes washed and ready to go.

Pamper yourself
I know that getting pedicures and manicures helped me relax with my first pregnancy. The last thing you want is to be super stressed before the baby comes. I remember getting a prenatal massage with my last one and it helped so much. Your muscles get so sore especially the lower back, I was feeling so good after and refreshed!!

Perennial Massage and Kegel Exercises
This might be TMI, but this kind of massage is necessary so you don't tear. This explains more of what a perennial massage is. Another thing that's pretty important is the kegel exercises. As you get older, it's important to do this other wise, you will find your self not being able to control your bladder. Trust me!

I hope some of these help. Just wanted to share my personal experiences with other expecting parent like me. I would love to know what you do to prep for the birth:) Leave me a comment! Would love to hear.

UNTIL THE NEXT ONE,
MARCH

Monday Rant: 31 and some weeks and My Baby Shower

baby shower, baby blessing, pregnancy life, mom life, portland blogger, fashion blogger, preggonista, pregnancy, third trimester

Until my girlfriends convinced me, I wasn't going to have another baby shower. But then it made me realize at the shower, that pregnant women like me really need this kind of community and support especially during towards the end of a pregnancy. It really showed me what kind of a strong tribe and community I was surrounded by and for that, I'm very thankful.

This pregnancy has been a whirlwind especially leading up to the finish line. There are definitely changes from the first one (I mean, who am I kidding, I was also ten years younger with Crea). I found out that I'm border line diabetic (blood sugar is right on the cusp), my iron is too low, and I'm not gaining enough weight. I mean, hello!! What's a pregnant girl to do? I've been trying so hard to balance everything that I was starting to feel like one of those crazy pregnant woman watching everything that I ate which is not my personality at all. It's not easy but it was great to be reminded that I still "got this" and feel surrounded by love and happiness at the shower.

A big thank you to all of my friends and family that came and showered me with blessings and love. I know that my squad will help me through my final days of pregnancy and I can't wait to share this little one and for them to get to know my baby!

Monday Rant: Third Trimester and My April Favorites

clothing, e.l.f., fashion, old navy, polyvore, style, april favorites 2016, portland fashion blogger, jean jacket, make up,

Good Heavens! When is this baby coming out? These are the thoughts that go through my head the last time I was getting my prenatal with my midwife. But on second thoughts, this little bundle of joy is still baking and it's not quite ready to come out. I say "it" because I'm not going to find out what the sex of the baby is until I push "it" out. Some people and a lot of my friends think I'm crazy {especially my girlfriends who are throwing me that shower} but for me it's something exciting about the feeling of not knowing. Crea was also a surprise. I guess my partner and I are just in for the spontaneous events.  I haven't even thought of any names....eeeks! If you have any ideas let me know in the comments below.
This time around, I'm a little bit more in the know of what helps me get through the last 2 months. I've rounded up my April Favourites of the things I'm loving and have been using to prep for the babes and my well being.

Food:
Granola Smoothie Bowls are the death of me. For real, I crave those things like nobody's business. Every morning, I stop by my local juice bar and get them. I love how the smoothie is so cooling and filling. Not to mention the berries on top. I always get them with extra granola.

Music:
Nothing in particular but I find myself listening to the Samantha James Station. Her sound is just so soothing, and relaxing. It helps me fall asleep at night. It also has me fantasising about traveling haha. Easy listening with a  little bit of rhythm.

Beauty:
I've been looking for a good concealer for a while now and the one that I absolutely loved from Rimmel got discontinued so I haven't had any luck until I decided to try Elf Concealer. It glides really smooth on my skin and blends just perfectly. It definitely has good coverage especially for everyday use. I use it to cover my dark circles under my eyes.

Random:
I've been re-reading books on pregnancy lately and I've gotta say my favourite book of all time by far is Birthing from Within. It really touches on how to understand your body and how to get the body ready for birth. I've really learned a lot about myself from this book. It has a lot of tecqniques for breathing and labor.

Fashion:
The weather in Portland has been really nice but it still gets chilly during the night time. I've been wearing this Jean Jacket  non stop. See how I paired it with this dress HERE and HERE.

Hope you enjoyed my last month's favourites. Let me know in the comments below if you've tried any of these products!
